na tāvat kāryaṃ prāgutpatteḥ pratyakṣeṇa gṛhyate ||

नाप्यनुमानेन सति लिङ्गे तस्य भावात् लिङ्गाभावश्च तदीययोः क्रियागुणयोरनुपलब्धेः न चान्यद् व्यपदेशशब्दसूचितं लिङ्गमस्ति ॥ (२।०)

nāpyanumānena sati liṅge tasya bhāvāt liṅgābhāvaśca tadīyayoḥ kriyāguṇayoranupalabdheḥ na cānyad vyapadeśaśabdasūcitaṃ liṅgamasti ||
